Top Anime Series

Rajib Singha
Animes are a hit not only with children, but with adults too. This story gives you a quick guide to some of the top anime series.
Anime, as most of us are aware, refers to a distinctly unique animation that originated in Japan, at the start of the 20th century. Since the creation of the first anime series Otogi Manga Calendar, this genre of animation has improved so much that now it is a solid rival to most T.V. shows and live-action films.
With improving animation techniques, and engaging storylines, these animations are more than just visual entertainment. Another factor which has pushed the anime series to such great levels of popularity and fan following, is that their content is not strictly intended for children. Adults can enjoy them too.

Best Anime of All Time

Naruto

One of my friends goes gaga over this anime series! Masashi Kishimoto is the man who has written and illustrated it. This ongoing Japanese manga series is centered around a lad by the name 'Naruto'. What's special about this chap?
Well, his body serves as a cage to the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox, which lays trapped within him. Naruto remains unaware about this demon until one incident where he encounters the renegade ninja Mizuki. This series basically relates the story of Naruto who struggles to become better and stronger, and his feeling of a fearsome monster trapped inside him.

Death Note

Another popular anime is what is known as the Death Note. Writer is Tsugumi Ohba and the artist is Takeshi Obata. Light Yagami is the protagonist here. This high school student comes across a book which is a no ordinary piece of black and white paper.
This supernatural book allows the reader to put anyone to death by writing his/her name on it. With the help of this piece of the death god named Ryuk, this boy tries to make the world evil-free.

Bleach

Tite Kubo presents a storyline where 15 year old Kurosaki Ichigo unintentionally takes on the job of a Death God, Rukia. During an episode Rukia tries to protect Ichigo from an evil lost soul (Hollow).
During the duel, Rukia gets injured, and transfers her power to the boy. From then onwards, Ichigo takes on the responsibility to defend humans from the pangs of evil spirits, and guide departed souls. Excellent work of imagination, and animation has made this series to be among the high grossing anime series of all time.

Fullmetal Alchemist

With a strong hold on the storyline, complemented by great animation techniques, and touch of emotion, Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist is a complete piece of entertainment for one and all.
The story focuses on Edward and his brother Alphonse Elric. While performing a resurrection ritual to bring their dead mother back to life, both the brothers end up losing their bodies; Ed loses his left leg, and Al his entire body.
Ed then sacrifices his right arm to attach Al's soul to a hollow metallic armor. Now their aim is to find a way to restore their bodies.

Vampire Knight

It's a story revolving around the lives of vampires, non vampires, and a girl named Yuki Cross.
She is a prefect in her school, and has been bestowed with the duty of protecting the Day class students (humans) from the Night class students (vampires). Also, she has to ensure that the true identity of the vampires do not get revealed to the humans.

One Piece

One piece, is truly one piece of good animation work which accounts for its place among the best anime series. Here, 'One Piece' refers to a treasure which was hidden by the Pirate Kind Gol D. Roger in a place called Grand Line.
Monkey D. Luffy, a young pirate, who aspires to become the greatest pirate in the world, embarks on a journey to look for the treasure along with his many friends. So, as any treasure hunt, even this one is a storehouse of fun, entertainment and adventure. It will surely keep you glued to your couch!

Dragon Ball

Drangon ball is an amalgam of speed, power, strength and tremendous adrenalin rush. Akira Toriyama presents us with the story of Goku who is on a mission to find the seven magic Dragon Balls. These balls when combined together are known to grant any wish a person desires.

Elfen Lied

If violence is your favorite pick, then so should be this anime. Manga author Lynn Okamoto has stuffed in episodes of violence, and sadistic events through the character of Lucy. She is a mutant herself but an event causes her to develop a secondary child-like personality known as Nyu.

Dragon Ball Z

Dragon Ball Z; this time, beefed up with more power and deeper storyline. Goku, is a grown man now, and has a wife and a son as his family. Things stay peaceful and lives are settled until our protagonist learns that he belongs to another planet. This triggers new adventures and Goku's struggle to defend his home against new and more powerful nemeses.

Karin (Chibi Vampire)

This story is about a vampire child Karin, who is different from her other kinds. Different because she produces blood instead of feeding on it. This causes her to expel the extra blood by biting others, which if she doesn't, leads her to suffer exaggerated nose-bleeds. This story is an amalgam of several interesting elements, and it is a must watch for any anime maniac.

Gungrave

Director Toshiyuki Tsuru portrays the characters Brandon Heat, and his best friend Harry MacDowell. A series of incidents led them to become two of the most well-known names in the underworld.
Then things take a twist, and Brandon gets betrayed and murdered by his only friend Harry. But some men just do not leave without settling their unfinished business. Heat comes back to life with only one purpose; revenge!
So, that does it for my review based opinion on the top anime series. With so many of them getting produced every year in Japan, it is easy to get confused. So, read through these reviews and you won't regret watching any of them. Tanoshimu!
