John Elwes (April 7, 1714 - November 26, 1789)
What have we here? A British Member of Parliament, rich beyond measure, and still hoarding the pennies away? John Elwes was rather well-known it seems, even in his lifetime, as a miser and oddball. Once when he was injured on both legs, Elwes only let the physician treat one leg so as to save the cost of medicines for the other.
